Reiki Healing Facts: Common questions asked about reiki and other energy healing modalities.

How does someone learn to practice Reiki or other healing modalities?

For any healing modality a practitioner must study under a master teacher and be attuned to the energy system. In Reiki there are 3 attunements: Reiki 1, Reiki 2, and Reiki Master/Teacher level. In Integrated Energy Therapy there are 5 attunements: basic, intermediate, advanced, master/teacher, and ascended master. In Therapeutic Touch there are three attunements basic, intermediate, and qualified therapeutic touch practitioner (QTTT).

What is the difference between healing and curing?

Healing is when you go to the root of the problem and restore the body’s balance. Curing is what is normally considered done when you actually remove the problem (but maybe not the cause). When you have surgery you can remove the “sick” organ or tissue but this might not solve the problem as the procedure often does not solve the underlying problem. One can also be healed but not cured, i.e. your body is in balance but you still have a medical problem (diabetes, epilepsy, MS...)

Can Reiki or other healing modalities be used on any illness?

Yes, Reiki and other healing modalities can be safely used to help aid in treatment for any illness, injury or disease. Energy healing restores balance in the body and can relieve or even remove symptoms. Energy healing has been used on and shown affective with reducing stress/anxiety, relieving pain, headaches, stomach upset, back or muscle pain, menstrual problems, and more. remember that everyone as an individual has to have the firm intention of getting well before any real healing can take place (Please observe that Reiki or any other energy healing modality should never be used instead of medical treatment, it should be used to compliment your established health care plan set in place by you or your primary care physician).

What happens during an energy healing session?

The client will be relaxed, fully dressed, on a Reiki (massage) table or seated while the healer holds his/her hands above the body. A treatment can last 30-90 minutes or longer depending on the client’s needs. A series of hand placements are then followed which cover all major organs in the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions.

How many treatments should I have?

There is no set number; you can never have too much energy healing. It truly depends on each client and what they wish to accomplish, some people use an energy healing session for rest and relaxation in which case they could have treatment for prolonged periods of time, where others use it for a specific issue and stop when the issue is resolved.

Can children receive Reiki or other Energy healing services?

Yes, anyone can receive energy healing. A session for a child will normally be shorter than for an adult. It is also possible to attune children to any healing modality, young children will only be attuned to the basic levels where older children can be attuned to any level they feel comfortable practicing.

Can Reiki or other healing modalities be used on animals?

Yes, although distance healing is recommended verses an in person treatment due to animals moving (walking around the room) and not staying in the same position which is required for an in person session.

I feel better after receiving energy healing can I stop taking my medication?

No, all medication decision must be decided on by you and a qualified health team member (specialist or primary care physician).

Is Reiki or other energy healing modalities the same as massage?

No, while every energy worker is certified in an energy system we do not carry the same certification as a massage therapist and are not licensed to perform the same services. Most energy work is a hands free or mostly hands free service, ethereal crystal Reiki if physical crystals are used would be considered light touch because of the crystals being placed on or near the body. In IET there are Integrated energy points on the body (similar to acupuncture) and pressure will be given on those points of the body throughout the healing session.
